I was in the attic tonight looking through memorabilia, and in the bottom of a box of high school things found one burgundy Converse high top. On the rubber toe cap, someone had scrawled in black Sharpie “the currents will shift”. I guess that’s what passed for profundity when I was sixteen.

I’m usually immune to this sort of thing, but this review of a toddler’s restaurant is too precious. http://www.momlogic.com/2008/11/review_lilys_cafe_resturant.php
One of the first shows I ever saw was Shudder to Think, February 1992 at Rockafella’s in Columbia, SC. I got older and they broke up. Well, they reunited for a small tour this year, and I was lucky enough to see them. It was awesome. This is X-French Tee Shirt, from their major label debut, Pony Express Record.

On April 1, REM is set to release Accelerate, its first album since 2004’s Around the Sun, and the first single off of Supernatural Superserious, is awesome. Music critics from Spin, Paste, and many others are hailing the album as a return to form, and the strongest album since 2001’s Reveal.
The story on REM over the past view years is that they had lost their way, and were now no more than a nostalgia act. While I agree that Around the Sun was a stylistic and musical mess, Reveal was one of the best albums of 2001, and would have been hailed as such if any other band had released it.
With this new album, it seems as if they have returned to form, and I am eagerly awaiting its release; something I haven’t done in a very long time.

Saw this on the nets. This is the cost of a guy in Homewood Alabama to fill up his Hummer. Thank gawd for my Mazda3.
Last month, The Killers put out Sawdust, an album of B-sides and covers. Included was a respectable cover of Kenny Rogers’ Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town. Since then, I’ve been listening to a fair amount of Kenny Rogers. Today, I found this little gem on the Tubes. Kenny Rogers… on the Muppet Show.
I never imagined I’d find myself in the curious position of having so much more than my parents ever had, of having more, frankly, than I ever thought I would have—and yet simultaneously feeling like I’m falling behind, that I need to earn more, save more, invest more, acquire more. When did I begin to feel this anxiety of acquisition? How did I become such a jackass?
Oh yeah. Ike Died Today.
The problem with Christmas is not the batteries. The problem isn’t even really the stuff. The problem with Christmas is that no one much likes it anymore.
